How to travel to Cheetah Paw Eco Lodge

The easiest way to get there is via the Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit. South African Airways offers daily direct flights to and from Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport. From Hoedspruit you’re only 30 minutes to Cheetah Paw Eco Lodge. Rental cars are available at the airport or for those who do not want to drive themselves we offer airport transfers to the lodge.

Please note that the gate of the Guernsey Reserve opens at 4:30AM and closes at 8:30PM. If you plan to self drive, please make sure your arrival and departure schedule fits in the gate opening time.

Please contact us for more details about airport transfers.

Driving Directions:

From Hoedspruit's Eastgate Airport: (approx. 30 minutes)

Turn right at the airport gate on the tar road and proceed 5 km to R40. You will pass the gate control (sometime they stop you and sometime they wave you through). Turn left on R 40 and proceed 15 km and turn left at the sign Guernsey (just after passing the Cheetah Breeding Project on your left). Proceed to the Guernsey Nature Reserve Gate (sometime they stop you and sometime they wave you through) and follow the tar road for 7 km until the pavement ends. Continue straight ahead on the dirt road for 4 km until you come to a T-junction. Turn right and proceed 4 km (passing Tangala gate and Jackalberry gate on your left) and turn left at the sign - Guernsey Private Nature Reserve. Drive straight until you reach the main gate. Register at the gate. You need to pay a Conservation Fee of R100 per car and R200 per bus. Enter the reserve and follow the signs to Cheetah Paw Eco Lodge.

For those more adventurous (and with a substantial vehicle – the road is a bit bumpy) you might try an alternate route:

From the exit of the Eastgate airport turn left and proceed 11 km on the paved road. Turn right at the Guernsey sign.  After you turn right at the Guernsey sign there will be some agricultural areas on your right. On your left will first be the Timbavati and then the Thorny Bush Game Reserves. You can start your game viewing on the way to our lodge. Both reserves have all types of African game.
